Campus Solutions (CS) 9.2 Production Downtime (Friday, March 10, 2023, 8 p.m. – midnight)

Overview

The Chancellor's Office has scheduled a downtime maintenance window for campus PeopleSoft platforms (Campus Solutions (CS) 9.2. The downtime will occur on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 8 p.m. to midnight while the Chancellor's Office works to apply a maintenance pack upgrade.

Benefit: 

This patch includes a bug fix around the processing of 2022-23 Middle-Class Scholarships and ensures former students can access their Unofficial Transcripts via the Student Center.

What Can You Expect

Campus Solutions (CS) will not be available during the maintenance window.

Affected applications include:

- CEL Quick Admit

- Gator Scheduler

- Accept Admission Offer

Oracle Database Maintenance (Friday, March 3, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.- Saturday, March 4, at 5:00 p.m.)

Overview 

Beginning Friday, March 3, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. until Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 5:00 p.m., ITS will conduct a server migration to OS version Oracle Linux 8 which will be applied to the IRDMPRD database. There will be an interruption to all services that connect to the Oracle databases while the update is being applied. 

Benefit:  

This update will ensure there is support for the Oracle Linux server version. 

What Can You Expect

Overview

The downtime was initially planned for February 10, 2023, and will now occur Friday, March 3, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight while the Chancellor's Office works to apply a maintenance pack upgrade.

Benefit: 

This change will enhance the auto post-transfer credit process, refresh the CSU employee's table, and provide external organization updates.

ServiceNow: Update Agent to Tokyo User Interface (February 28, 2023)

Overview

ITS will implement the new user interface, Next Experience, from the ServiceNow Tokyo upgrade.

Benefit

ServiceNow’s new user interface includes a significantly streamlined browsing experience.

What Can You Expect

Dashboards will replace homepages in the new user interface. Connect chat will be disabled in Next Experience. ITS will look into and enable a similar feature (Sidebar) shortly after the update.

What Actions Need to Be Done by ServiceNow Agents

Agents who created their personalized homepages must log in to ServiceNow and convert them into dashboards. Agents can begin to do this process now. There is no need to wait for the new user interface.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Self-Service > Homepage

2. From the list, select the homepage you want to copy.

3. Click the Homepage settings icon and choose Create Dashboard Version - Settings menu with Create Dashboard Version menu item

4. Select Create new dashboard or Add to existing dashboard and click Create

5. The Add to existing dashboard list contains only the dashboards you own. If you select this option, the homepage adds as a tab to the existing dashboard.

Oracle Database Maintenance (Friday, February 24, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)

Overview

On Friday, February 24, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., ITS will apply the Oracle upgrades to the PROD database. There will be a brief interruption to all services connecting to the Oracle databases while the update occurs.

Benefit: 

This update will ensure Oracle databases are compatible with the latest client software.

Twilio ACD Outage (Friday, February 17, 2023)

Overview:

Twilio is currently experiencing outages to several of their services, 2 of which impact SF State:

1. Twilio’s FLEX service, used for Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) services, is experiencing intermittent disruptions.
2. Twilio’s SMS messaging service is also experiencing intermittent issues.

What Can You Expect: 

Twilio’s FLEX service issues impact the following SF State team’s ACD services: Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC), Bursar’s Office, Academic Technology, CAPS-Counseling, Graduate Division GRAD (DIV), Registrar Staff, SAEM-Admissions, SAEM-DARS, SAEM-FinancialAid, SAEM-IntlAdmissions, SOS_Outreach, SOS_Tours, and Veterans Queue. These impacted teams may not be able to use their ACD service until Twilio restores FLEX services fully. 

Twilio’s SMS messaging service is one of the authentication methods on SF State’s Guest WiFi. Users of SF State Guest WiFi can alternately use an email address when authenticating on SF State Guest WiFi. Twilio’s SMS messaging service using AT&T cellular network in the United States is also currently not working. Therefore, any user trying to connect to SF State Guest WiFi and using AT&T cellular service for SMS authentication may experience problems.

Twilio has not advised an estimated time of restoration (ETR) for their FLEX or SMS services. ITS will provide updates as we receive them from Twilio.
