Overview

ITS will complete the OnBase 18 to OnBase EP3 upgrade the evening of Tuesday, July 19, 2022 and retire the legacy OnBase 18 environment. This will enable future improvements to OnBase, optimize OnBase support for the entire campus, and improve security.

Any users still using the OnBase 18 Unity/Thick clients should upgrade to OnBase EP3 before July 20, 2022. OnBase 18 Unity Clients will no longer function beginning July 20, 2022.

What Can You Expect

OnBase 18 Unity Client and Thick Client (Scanning Workstations) - ACTION REQUIRED

The OnBase Unity Client and Thick Client version 18 will stop functioning on July 20, 2022 and an update to EP3 is required.

On ITS-managed computers, the OnBase Unity and Thick Client software will be automatically upgraded to EP3 starting July 14, 2022. To avoid interruptions, it is suggested that you self-upgrade via the Software Center prior to the forced upgrade.

If your computer is not managed by ITS, you must contact your IT Service Provider for the upgrade.

OnBase Web Client

Web Client Users may need to update their bookmarks to use the universal address (https://onbase.sfsu.edu).

If you have already been updated to the OnBase EP3 client, access to the Production environment will not be impacted.

On Friday, August 12, 2022, from 10 p.m.- 2 a.m., ITS will upgrade the campus DNS, DHCP, and NTP servers ns1.sfsu.edu (also known as ntp1.sfsu.edu, dhcp01.sfsu.edu, 130.212.10.214, 130.212.10.215) and ns2.sfsu.edu (also known as ntp2.sfsu.edu, dhcp02.sfsu.edu, 130.212.10.163, 130.212.10.164). This will result in faster and more secure DNS, DHCP, and NTP services.

To prepare for the maintenance, all campus DNS and DHCP change requests will be paused from August 11, 2022, at 9 a.m., until August 13, 2022, at 9 a.m.

What Can You Expect

End users may experience slower name resolution and IP address assignment during the maintenance period. Clients or applications that do not fail over to alternate DNS servers gracefully may need to be restarted.

After June 15, 2022, the Internet Explorer desktop application will be out of support and disabled, automatically by Microsoft, redirecting users to Microsoft Edge.

What You Can Expect

Starting June 15, 2022, Microsoft will gradually transition users from the unsupported IE11 desktop app to Microsoft Edge. The IE11 desktop app will be progressively redirected to Microsoft Edge over several months. The IE11 desktop app will be permanently disabled as part of a future Windows Cumulative Update.

If your department uses web applications that require Internet Explorer, you should contact the application provider to ensure that it’s compatible with Edge or another web browser.

Some applications may work in Edge’s IE Compatibility Mode as a temporary solution until the web application can be properly updated.
