Overview 

ITS received reports of issues when trying to open MS Office files stored in the Box web interface with Office Online.  

What Can You Expect 

Users might experience issues when trying to open MS Office files (such as Excel or Word) stored in Box with Office Online in a web browser. ITS is working with the vendor to resolve the problem. ITS will send out additional information as it becomes available. Access to the files through Box Drive is not affected, and there are no known issues downloading through the web browser.

Overview 

ITS will be implementing a configuration change on the campus DNS server ns1.sfsu.edu and ns2.sfsu.edu on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 10:00 p.m. – 10:15 p.m. This DNS configuration change will improve server performance.  

What Can You Expect 

During the maintenance window, internet connection for some users on the campus network may experience intermittent disruptions.

Overview 

ITS will decommission the campus DNS server ns3.sfsu.edu (130.212.10.162) on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, from 10 p.m.- 11 p.m. This ensures the campus DNS system IP address is available for reuse. 

What Can You Expect 

After January 3rd, the DNS server at 130.212.10.162 will no longer respond to requests. 

 

If your devices obtain their IP addresses automatically, no action is necessary.  

 

If you have configured a static address or overridden your default DNS settings, please reconfigure your clients to use the other campus DNS servers at 130.212.10.214 and 130.212.10.163. End users may experience slower name resolution during the maintenance period.

Overview:

ServiceNow is experiencing a technical issue that is affecting access for some of our customers.

What can you expect: 

Access to ServiceNow and the ServiceNow catalog may be intermittent or not available until the issue is resolved. ServiceNow is aware of the issue and is working to resolve the problem. ITS will send out additional information as it becomes available.

Overview:

ITS will upgrade and reboot the Housing and Corp Yard network switches on Thursday, October 13, 2022, 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.

What can you expect: 

All network connections (wired, wireless, and VoIP phones) will briefly be down in Housing and Corp Yard buildings during the upgrade window.

Overview:

On October 13, 2022, ITS together with our vendor will be troubleshooting a network switch that provides connectivity to the 7th and 9th floors of Hensill Hall.

What can you expect: 

All network connections (wired, wireless, and VoIP phones) will briefly be down on the 7th and 8th floors of Hensill Hall during the troubleshooting window.

Overview

ITS will apply monthly Windows security updates and critical updates on Windows servers on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 6 p.m.-midnight. The latest Windows security patches fix the vulnerabilities and errors in Windows and associated software. Security and critical updates also reduce the risk of exploitation by malware or hackers.

What Can You Expect

During the maintenance window, users may experience a brief loss of service while each server is rebooted. Each server is expected to be unavailable for fewer than 10 minutes during the maintenance window.

Overview:

Due to a power issue, we experienced a partial network outage in the Ethnic Studies & Psychology Building between 08:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. this morning. This impacted all network connectivity (including wired, wireless, and VoIP phones) in several different sections of the building.

 

What can you expect: 

Network connectivity in the Ethnic Studies & Psychology building is fully restored.

Overview

SF State Web Application services will undergo scheduled maintenance on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 10:00 p.m. - midnight. The purpose of this maintenance is to update Web Application Software which will improve performance when accessing SF State web applications.

What Can You Expect

Between 9:00 p.m. – midnight on 9/29 users may not be able to access the following services:

  • Academic Senate Voting
  • Account Details
  • CEL Shopping Cart
  • Class Schedule
  • Directory Search
  • Email Account Services
  • Grade Exceptions
  • Password Change / Reset
  • Pre-Requisite Roster
  • Security Groups Management
  • Student Short Term Loan
  • SF State ID lookup
  • University Calendar

Overview

The Chancellor's Office has scheduled a downtime maintenance window for campus PeopleSoft platforms (Campus Solutions (CS) 9.2. The downtime will occur on Friday, September 16 from 8:00 p.m. to midnight while the Chancellor's Office works to apply a maintenance pack upgrade.

Benefits Include:

  • Maintenance patch for 2023-24 Cal State Apply, which includes campus update requests, Chancellor's Office updates, and updates for the application.

What Can You Expect

Campus Solutions (CS) will not be available during the maintenance window. Affected applications include:

- CEL Quick Admit

- Gator Scheduler

- Accept Admission Offer
