Our internet provider CENIC is experiencing a network issue causing connectivity connections on campus. 

What Can You Expect 

You may experience some issues connecting your devices until this issue is resolved. ITS will provide you with updates as we acquire them.

Overview

ITS will apply monthly Windows security updates and critical updates on Windows servers on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 6 p.m.-midnight. The latest Windows security patches fix the vulnerabilities and errors in Windows and associated software. Security and critical updates reduce the risk of exploitation by malware or hackers.

What Can You Expect

During the maintenance window, users may experience a brief loss of service while each server is rebooted. Each server is expected to be unavailable for less than 10 minutes during the maintenance window.

Overview

On Friday, June 23, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Information Technology Services (ITS) will update the OS/Oracle configuration maintenance for the IRDMPRD database. These updates ensure our data remains protected. There will be an interruption to all services that connect to the Oracle databases while updating the maintenance.

Benefit: 

 Implementing these updates will ensure our database operates in a secure environment. 

What Can You Expect

The following applications and services will not be available during updating: 

  • WebFocus reporting services – Department of Institutional Research
  • Metro College Data Feed to SalesForce Cloud
  • Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) Data Feed to InfoED Cloud
  • Division of Student Life (DSL) GatorX DataMart
  • University Advancement CRM DataMart (BlackBaud Cloud)
  • Budget AO - Executive Dashboard (Tableau Cloud)

Overview

The Chancellor's Office has scheduled a downtime maintenance window for campus PeopleSoft platforms (Campus Solutions (CS) 9.2). The downtime will occur on Friday, June 16, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight while the Chancellor's Office works to apply a maintenance pack upgrade.

 

Benefit: 

  • Update to the 2023-2024 Financial Aid Year Common Origination and Disbursement (COD)
  • Update of dependency status displayed when “Expected Family Contribution” (EFC) is returned

 

What Can You Expect

 Campus Solutions (CS) will not be available during the maintenance window.

- Gator Scheduler

- Accept Admission Offer

Overview

To ensure continued security, ITS will replace the old end-of-support firewalls with a new set on June 16, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until midnight.  

 

What to Expect

The following campus services will not be available during the maintenance window.

1. DNS (Domain Name System) service for Campus WiFi and wired network

2. DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) service for Campus WiFi and wired network

3. Accessing the internet using campus DNS service

4. Services or servers hosted at the campus data center 

Benefit: 

Installing the new firewalls will ensure better performance for the data center.

Overview 

The University's website provider, Pantheon, reported that they discovered a solution for the issue causing some University websites to return as "Not Found." They are applying this remedy to all impacted websites. 

 

What Can You Expect 

The ITS Web & Mobile team identified and restored all impacted SF State websites. At this time, all SF State websites are functioning as expected.

The vendor has resolved the reported issue regarding the Unified Communication (UC) functionality.

Overview 

ITS received reports and confirmed an issue with some of the functionality of the Unified Communication (UC) services. The ITS Telecom team has opened a support case with AT&T support to troubleshoot the issue.

 

What Can You Expect 

Voice mails and notifications for missed calls are currently not being delivered to Office 365 mailboxes. Also, ucmportal.sfsu.edu is not accessible at this time. ITS will continue to keep the community informed on the resolution and progress.

Overview 

Some of our SF State websites are currently experiencing issues. The University's website host, Pantheon, reports intermittent downtime affecting their customers. Pantheon has identified the root cause and is quickly correcting the problem. The ITS Web & Mobile team is also working to identify and respond to individual outages as they arise.  

What Can You Expect 

An SF State website may return as "Not Found" while this issue occurs with Pantheon. ITS will restart the website manually and bring it back up within 30 minutes of discovering the problem. ITS will continue to keep the community informed as we receive updates.

Overview 

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, Information Technology Services (ITS) will modify the SF State Single Sign-On (SSO) service to improve login security and reliability. This change will modernize the two-factor authentication (2FA) prompt and make the login experience consistent with the web version of Outlook.

What To Expect 

Users will be presented with a new login screen matching the one currently available on the web version of Outlook. Going forward, all SF State online resources, including email, Gateway, Zoom, DocuSign, and Canvas, will have a consistent login experience. Your SF State login (e.g., 900000000@sfsu.edu) and password will remain the same.

All SF State IT services will remain operational without any service disruption.
