Decommissioning of Campus DNS Server ns3.sfsu.edu (Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 10 a.m.- noon)

Overview

ITS will decommission the campus DNS server ns3.sfsu.edu (130.212.10.162) on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 10 a.m.- noon. This is the first step in an architectural revamp of the campus DNS system.

What Can You Expect

If your devices obtain their IP addresses automatically, no action is necessary.

If you use a static address, please reconfigure your clients to use the other campus DNS servers at 130.212.10.214 and 130.212.10.163.

To provide ample time for all campus clients to move over from ns3.sfsu.edu, DNS requests to the old IP address will be redirected to an existing DNS server until January 3, 2023.

End users may experience slower name resolution during the maintenance period.

Ryan K.

Ryan stopped what he was working on to help me with Outlook Calendar issues for the CIO. He made sure I had the access I needed with little notice and disturbance to the work I do. This isn't the first time Ryan has done this either. He continuously troubleshoots issues I encounter with our ITS email tag lines. He is always extremely supportive and friendly. I really appreciate it. It is so refreshing to be able to have a supportive and positive team member. I'm sure the campus community will feel the same when working with Ryan. Super glad he's on our team. Thanks, Ryan! Major kudos!
