Shout-out Wall for Q2 2022

Congratulations to our Q2 2022 Golden Gator Winners, Elsie V B, Lori B, and John S

Shout-out Recipients
March 17, 2022 - June 13, 2022 (Q2)

Ivan W

There is too much here to highlight, but Ivan has been an incredible (and patient) resource for our area as we have needed both significant project support but also help understanding and interpreting existing processes. He is incredibly intelligent with impressive analytical skills, but also a pleasant colleague. I'm so glad he's on the ITS team!

Wilbur L

Wilbur Lam has been an incredible resource as we have needed to refine our use of Twilio and the staff who have access to various skills. He is unfailingly helpful and responsive, and it has been such a pleasure working with him as we made these adjustments. Just wanted to make sure you had a sense of how critical his support has been to our office! We really appreciate all his help.

Stephen L

Orientation returned to in-person this year - June 2022 for Freshmen and in July 2022 for Transfers - the first time since 2019. The mobile team worked with New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) to transition from using Gator Guides to New Student Orientation (NSO) on SF State's mobile app.

The project started in February 2022 with the team working together to configure and build out the NSO module before the first orientation session June 6th so we met weekly w/NSFP to provide updates and move the project along. Stephen learned, demonstrated, and trained NSFP how to perform push-notifications for the different orientation sessions. He really stepped up with with one less developer on the team taking on additional dev duties, then pushed the module out 5/31/22, almost singlehandedly and covering for an unexpected absence to perform final check.

Supakit K (Nat)

Orientation returned to in-person this year - June 2022 for Freshmen and in July 2022 for Transfers - the first time since 2019. The mobile team worked with New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) to transition from using Gator Guides to New Student Orientation (NSO) on SF State's mobile app.

The project started in February 2022, with Nat leading, researching, learning, and teaching Modo's tool internally and to the NSFP department responsible for orientation,
The team work cut out for them with the first orientation session June 6th so we met weekly to provide updates and move the project along. Nat has been a wonder figuring out solutions to make the tool work for NSFP, completing project tasks early, and provided knowledge transfer before going on vacation for the launch to be successful.

Felix K

Felix has been on the leading edge of the UC project field operations.
He has accomplished a lot with not much help placing and setting up new phones all over the campus.
His work has allowed his teammates to take on other projects that have been critical in the support of the of campus network service/support needs.
If your enjoying your new phone, thank Felix.

Ermin N

Ermine has helped me several times since Dec 2021. When I sent out a service ticket, Ermin showed up almost immediately or the next day to assist me. He went above and beyond the call to fix my laptop and monitor issues. I'm impressed by how efficient and knowledgeable he is as well as how he treats us, the AP staff, with respect. Ermine's also very humble, professional, approachable. He's a great access to the University.

Lori B

Lori is AWESOME! I can't thank her enough! She is diligent, distinguished, and delightful. I know she'll appreciate the alliteration and the Oxford comma I just used. Lori collaborates and proofreads all communications to ensure I don't miss anything grammatically. Not to mention the spelling, which is not my strong suit. I cannot stress enough how important this is! Grammar matters! I have learned so much from Lori. I can always trust her to be upfront and forthcoming with me. In my opinion, that's one of the best attributes you can ask for in a colleague and I am grateful. Thank you, Lori, for encouraging and helping me to grow. It's always a great pleasure to work with you! Keep rockin' it!

Tuan D.

Tuan is a great mentor. He has guided me in numerous ways. He has helped to expand my skill sets and critical thinking approaches. We have worked together on numerous projects recently and it's been great to watch his processes. Tuan is patient and always comes up with different examples, visuals, and dialogues to help me understand in a way that caters to my particular learning style. Even though I've said, "I don't get it" more than once. :) Thanks, Tuan. You're a great leader and it means a lot you've taken time out of your day to teach me.

Elsie VB

Elsie is always on it. Any time I need support with anything BUSSERV, Elsie is there. She's helped me multiple times recently on short notice. She's always quick to respond and gets it done one way or the other. It's a good day when I get to see and work with Elsie.

Matthew Y

Matt has been a big part of the Avaya Migration doing his network job also project manager the Migration and working with AT&T .

I want to give Matt big shout for going above beyond the call

Greg S

Greg is always sure to make himself available for impromptu troubleshooting, often with short notice. When problems do arise he is very knowledgeable and gets things resolved quickly. And of course, he is always willing to make the trip up to Tiburon to improve or expand our networking services at RTC. I am extremely grateful for his service!

John S.

I really appreciate the effort and time that Tuan's team had put into this project. It made a huge improvement from the previous process.

Employees are able to sign up for direct deposit via self-services, and the process time reduce from 4-6 weeks to 1-2 weeks.

Thank you again!!

Agnes

Rebecca D. and Nat K.

Rebecca was persistent and diligent in meeting with me to get tutoring on the mobile app. She provided details ahead of time so that when we met, it was an efficient use of our time. She invited Nat to the meeting just in case, and he was able to join quickly and easily and provide me with the information I needed to make a decision. I was blown away by the unwavering dedication to service both Rebecca and Nat demonstrated throughout the process. Thanks to everyone for making this happen!

Ivan W.

Ivan Wong has provided years of service to me. Back when the Enrollment Management Tech team was dissolved, there was no one assigned to help me implement new CSU requirements for math and English "remediation" and new Early Start BPG work. Ivan--with help from Andy Wong and Whitney Wong--led the way in supporting me when there was little support. To this day, I am impressed with Ivan's combination of deep technical knowledge and friendly customer service. He is AMAZING.

James T.

Great Service, Patience, on time, and cordial help when needed.

Jane Doe

Kindly be informed Jane helped us tremendously to resolve one issue in CS. We would like to give our sincere special recognition to them. Without their expertise and willingness to help this communication would not be going out today. I appreciate their efforts more than I can say.

What Happens Next

Once we receive your nomination, we will notify the nominee(s) and their supervisors letting them know they’ve been nominated. ITS will then post the nomination to our ITS shout-out wall. The shout-out will be listed under the quarter in which they were received. At the end of the corresponding quarter, ITS’s Staff Advisory group and one member from outside ITS will meet to vote on all the nominations received. Based on the tally of votes, we will determine who will receive our Golden Gator Award for the quarter. We will then notify you that your nominee was chosen as a winner. The winner(s) will be announced at our Town Hal meeting and listed as such on our shout-out wall.
