William is the best! He's got a lovely disposition and is fantastic to work with. He saved my life today at short notice. I accidentally deleted a very important web page and he stopped what he was doing to help me recover it, saving me from cardiac arrest. I know William took the time out of his busy day to help me. What could've taken days to get to, he did in a couple of hours. He didn't have to do that. Thank you, William. Don't ever change!

On Monday, July 12, William worked on his sick day to help the Chemistry Department on this emergency request. Their website was hosted on a computer that experienced an unexpected failure making the site unavailable. Luckily, they were in the process of building their new new Drupal 8 site but didn’t go through accessibility and branding review. DPRC and SMC gave permission to push the site to production so William worked on his sick day to make the site live in time for Transfer Student Orientation. Thank you William for your dedication and for helping the Chemistry Department in their time of need!

I just wanted to make you aware of the incredible amount of work that Ivan Wong did to get this module up and running in a record amount of time. Not only did he make complicated changes to the reg data file which allowed us roll out the Covid clearance module in record time, he was also ready at a moment’s notice to help troubleshoot ongoing issues. He is the epitome of professionalism and is an absolute pleasure to work with. Just thought you should know that he is doing important and amazing work!

It's too bad we can only choose one of the above options. Daniel Wong is the "Calm in the Eye of the Storm" and "Above & Beyond the Call" and has an "Unwavering Dedication to Service". I came back to both a refresh of my laptop (new operating system to boot) and a new multi-function Xerox printer/copier/etc. Daniel set up an appointment to install printer drivers for the new machine and it did not initially work. He set up our other printer, a Brother color laser, that works just fine, but it's more cost-effective to print B/W whenever possible. I've been consumed with the start of classes and did not stay on top of the printing issue. Daniel did. He contacted me for a follow-up appointment, saying he had investigated both the new operating system and the new printer drivers and had a solution. He set up an appointment, which I missed, and patiently set up another. This morning he got the printer working beautifully. Throughout he was professional, kind, and patient. It's a joy to work with him.

I had accidentally made a change on Drupal that had unintended results and was unfortunately unable to resolve it on my own. It was urgent that it get fixed as quickly as possible. William interrupted his day to fix my accidental error quickly and with a tremendously calm and positive response. William's quick assistance provided me with both relief in terms of the problem being resolved, but also gratitude for William's great attitude and unwavering desire to help. I am immensely grateful!

I also can’t thank you enough to Krzysztof. I truly cannot do my job without their continuous help. Krzysztof responded to my inquiries even in late evening, omg! They make it very easy for me to do my job and always provide full support. Krzysztof will go miles for users and go above and beyond when is needed. It is hard to find someone like him. Jeff helps the ServiceNow development team turn good ideas into actionable items. He makes improvements to our service management architecture over time that lead to a better experience for ITIL agents and users alike. He never hesitates to offer help when needed. Michelle is involved in several projects while also providing support for many teams including the Service Desk, App Support, Duo, Password Reset, and Endpoint teams. Despite all that, she is usually the first one to volunteer to cover phones when our Password Reset team is unavailable or to offer to provide assistance with a Duo-related ticket. She goes above and beyond to ensure that our customers get the help they need. More than that, she has been a supportive team member. I appreciate having Michelle on my team!

He replies quickly to service requests and comes to our office with a positive and inviting attitude. He goes above and beyond to make sure my staff has what they need to complete their tasks. In the midst of the AM2020 project, where every Campus Solutions user will have their account standardized to a new template negotiated over weeks with subject-matter experts and technical experts. Current, the project is working with the 7 academic units and their hundreds of staff and faculty members in the midst of the start of Fall semester and add/drop deadlines quickly approaching. Andy is steadfast in his methodical approach to building out the templates, setting up testing accounts one by one, and resolving any findings. Despite rapid priority changes and smoothing out the variety of different ways each college does business, Andy is always a calm presence at stand-ups and effectively leads working sessions. Even though he may "just be doing his job," Andy does it in a manner that makes everyone else's job easier.

Liandra continues to be a shining star for the Service Desk and tremendous contributor to ITS service to campus. To support the return to campus, she provided phone coverage for our Service Desk and campus operator line as we are short staffed on Students and the students we have were working through their class schedule. Liandra also handles customer escalations with calm, thoughtful and professional responses, often times for issues that are not IT related. Lastly, Liandra looks for creative ways to solve problems facing our customers. This has been seen with ServiceNow improvements she has worked to implement, as well as wifi issues in housing. Liandra truly cares about improving things for students on campus and making this a better place.

This trio worked through upgrading the wifi in UPN and UPS and also retired cable TV in over 300 apartments. In addition to that, they supported housing for a successful fall move-in following 15 months of limited occupancy due to SIP.

Ivan has been a consistent resource on many security-related improvements this past year and his analysis and contributions have been key to their success. Recently, he worked with business stakeholders to identify low-risk dormant student accounts that resulted in deactivating over 38,000 dormant accounts which significantly reduces the risk of them becoming compromised. Kudos to Ivan!

Kudos to Shawn for keeping the large projects he is managing on track and for all of his efforts in keeping stakeholders informed. He juggles many tasks besides his primary role, such as: guiding ITS in capacity planning, wrangling bi-weekly and dashboard updates, and volunteering to assist with other support activities. I am grateful for Shawn's dedication and level of engagement!

Creating the HEERF Student Application and Admin pages are solutions that the University needed in short order, so that students to can apply and receive COVID-19 tuition relief funds. Typically, this project would have taken a couple of months, but Bernie turned it around a couple weeks.

I will nominate Hugh and Ramon for their timely work developing and deploying Course Mass Drop process on students who had not provided COVID-19 vaccination/exemption documents. Dropping courses on students is not a good thing, but this was necessary in supporting University policy.

Golden Gator Synopsis
Every quarter ITS selects a staff member(s) or a team as a recipient for our Golden Gator Award. The winner(s) will be announced at our quarterly Town Hall meeting.
How Does it Work
If a person or team provides excellent service or leadership, you can nominate them for a shout-out on our shout-out page. There are several categories to choose from when submitting a nomination, including Calm in the Eye of the Storm, the Behind the Scenes Wonder, Above & Beyond the Call, Customer Whisperer, Unwavering Dedication to Service, Unexpected Leader, and other, where you may write in another category of your own choosing. Once you select your preferred category, you can then compose an explanation behind your shout-out submission. Please include your name, department, and email address.

What Happens Next
Once we receive your nomination, we will notify the nominee(s) and their supervisors letting them know they’ve been nominated. ITS will then post the nomination to our ITS shout-out wall. The shout-out will be listed under the quarter in which they were received. At the end of the corresponding quarter, ITS’s Staff Advisory group and one member from outside ITS will meet to vote on all the nominations received. Based on the tally of votes, we will determine who will receive our Golden Gator Award for the quarter. We will then notify you that your nominee was chosen as a winner. The winner(s) will be announced at our Town Hal meeting and listed as such on our shout-out wall.
