OnBase Upgrade to Version 24.1 (December 13 – 15, 2024)

Overview

Starting on Friday, December 13th at 5 p.m. and running through Sunday, December 15th at 5 p.m., ITS will upgrade OnBase EP3 to the latest version of 24.1. This update includes Web, Unity, and Thick client (scanning station) access.

Benefit: This maintenance will standardize our OnBase client versions, enable future improvements to OnBase, optimize OnBase support for the entire campus, and address outstanding security Issues.

What Can You Expect

OnBase Web Client – ACTION REQUIRED – Update your Web bookmarks.

After this maintenance, the OnBase web application URL changes from https://onbase.sfsu.edu to https://onbase.sfsu.edu/appnet/.

This change will be permanent, so please update any bookmarks.

Please note that Edge and Chrome are the preferred browsers for OnBase. Firefox is currently not a vendor-supported browser for this upgrade. Safari is supported; however, Safari may not work with the desktop host gateway software for advanced functionality.

OnBase Web Client Desktop Host Gateway Additional Functionality – ACTION RECOMMENDED

OnBase requires a local software installation to enable advanced functionality in the web client, the desktop host gateway. This software will be available in the Software Center or from your local IT Service Provider for Mac and Windows. For more information on the desktop host gateway software, please see this KB article:

Information Technology - Fix: OnBase Web Client Access Issue - Desktop Host Gateway

Currently, the desktop host gateway software is only needed to use the OnBase Virtual Print Driver to print documents to OnBase. Future OnBase enhancements may also require it.

OnBase Unity Client – no action is required at this time.

All current OnBase Unity clients should function normally after the upgrade – the updated OnBase 24 Unity client will be available in the Software Center or from your local IT Service Provider as needed.

OnBase Thick Client (Scanning Workstations) – no action is required at this time.

All current OnBase Thick clients and scanning stations should function normally after the upgrade - the updated OnBase 24 Thick client and OCR software (if needed) will be available in the Software Center or from your local IT Service Provider.
