ITS and Academic Technology (AT) are collaborating on an upgrade to the faculty website server that will improve security, resiliency, and features for SF State faculty members.
The Strategic Marketing and Communications OHO web redesign project will create a low-feature, public-facing webpage for each faculty member which will be linked to all news articles and pages that mention the faculty member. The full scope of the feature for this page are unknown, although there's design wireframe with some information. These pages will not contain some of the features on the current faculty pages. This project is expected to go live in late 2025 to early 2026.
The current faculty webserver is using Drupal 7, which is no longer supported for security updates as of January 5th, 2025. This website needs to upgrade to the current, secure version of Drupal before the OHO project is expected to release.
Benefits
- Improve security and reliability
- Align feature set with faculty's current needs
- Complement the planned OHO faculty pages
- Improve accessibility
- Improve University branding guidelines alignment
