SF State Account Help

Your SF State ID is a nine-digit number assigned to you during the student application or hiring process. Your SF State Login and Password and two-factor authentication (2FA) device will allow you to access SF State resources including: 
Wi-Fi, email, Global Protect VPN, Box at SF State, Online Course Content, and other web resources.

SF State requires accurate contact information to ensure we can verify your identity and reach out if needed. It is important to keep your information updated.

  • Do not share your personal information with anyone
  • University accounts are phishing targets, be mindful not to click on any email links.

Why was my account disabled?

  • Separation Disable
    • Former employee 
  • Academic Standing
    • Student took no classes in last year or are academically disqualified
    • Student graduated (deactivates after 1 year)

Why was my account locked?

  • Time Limited Lock:
    • Too many failed password attempts
    • After changing your password - a different device is actively trying to auto-log in with previous password
  • Administrative Security Lock:
    • Account was compromised

Compromised

Universities email accounts are targets for phishing scams. Phishing emails can trick recipients into providing sensitive information like personal information, account passwords, credit card information, or banking records.

If your account is not working, check the external email you provided to SF State. Compromised accounts receive an email with instructions on how to regain access.
