Instructions to Access Your SF State Email After Moving to Microsoft Cloud-Hosted Email
Users That Access Email via Web Browsers (Outlook Web Access (OWA))
Please login using the new web address: https://outlook.office.com
Users That Access Email via Outlook 2016 (and newer) Desktop Applications
You may experience a one-time pop-up that asks you to quit and restart Outlook (pictured below). Please click OK, quit Outlook, then reopen Outlook.
Once Outlook reopens, a pop-up window containing the SF State Global Login screen will appear (pictured below).
Users That Access Email via Outlook 2013 (and older) Desktop Applications
No action is required. Outlook will function as it did before.
Users That Access Email via 3rd Party Email Clients (such as Thunderbird)
Email clients that use IMAP/SMTP protocols will need to be reconfigured.
After moving to the cloud, in order to continue receiving and sending email, the server settings must be changed to the following:
- User name: email@example.com
- Password: <yourpassword>
Protocol: IMAP (incoming server settings)
- Server: outlook.office365.com
- Port: 993
- Connection Security: SSL
Protocol: SMTP (outgoing server settings)
- Server: smtp.office365.com
- Port: 587
- Connection Security: TLS
