Placing a Call
To place a call, lift handset or depress the speaker key, then:
- Outside Calls: Dial "9" followed followed by the desired telephone number.
- Internal Calls: Dial the desired five (5) digit extension number (e.g., 81420 for number 338-1420). Telephone numbers not directly dialable from outside begin with 1. Dormitory numbers begin with 6.
- Voicemail: Dial "86000"
- Outside Calls with Account Code: Dial "*9", your personal account, followed by "9" and the desired telephone number.
- Long Distance: Dial 9 + 1 + the 10-digit number
- International: Dial 9 + 011 + the number
- Information: Dial 9 + 411 (Note your department will be charged)
Note: Each campus telephone has a permissions setting for making local, long-distance, and international calls. Dialing each type of number is dependent on the phone being enabled to make that kind of call. If your telephone is not permitted to make international calls, for example, then you will receive a fast busy signal. You should contact your UTC if you need to have your class of service modified.
Message Set
This feature enables the user to activate a MSG light on another D-Term to indicate that you would like a return call. To set a message light:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key.
- Dial extension.
- During ring cycle or busy signal, depress MSG key. Receive confirmation tone.
- Hang up or depress Speaker key.
Message Callback
This enables a recipient of a message to automatically return the call of the party who invoked the message light. To answer a message set by another user:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key
- Depress the MSG key (the extension of the person who invoked the message is automatically redialed)
There may be several messages set to your telephone. To display them one at a time, without lifting the handset, depress the MSG key to scroll through the messages sent. Depressing the "#" sign will cancel the message without returning the call. Lifting the handset and depressing the MSG key will return the call sent that is being displayed while canceling that particular message.
Callback
This feature enables the user to automatically make connection with a busy extension as soon as the busy extension becomes idle.
To set a Callback:
- Dial extension number, hear busy signal.
- Depress Callback key.
- Hang up.
- When the busy station becomes available, your phone will ring and display CB followed by the extension number to which the Callback was placed.
- Lift handset; this will activate the called party's phone to ring while automatically, cancelling the Callback light.
To cancel a previous Callback set:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key
- Depress Callback
Save
This feature enables the user to save one number to be automatically redialed regardless of time elapsed. To save a number for future use, depress the Save key while in conversation upon a no answer condition or if a busy signal is encountered. (The Save key lamp will light when number is stored.) Lift the handset or depress speaker at a later time and the number will be automatically redialed.
Receiving a Call
Lift handset or depress speaker key to answer an incoming call.
- Outside Call: Fast Ring Signal
- Internal Call: Normal Ring Signal
Parking a Call
This feature is used to place a call on hold, enabling the call to be retrieved from any other phone on campus. (Once the call has been "parked" your telephone line is available for re-use.)
To Park a Call:
- While connected to a call, depress the transfer key.
- Dial "*0" (you will hear a confirmation tone)
- Hang up
To Retrieve Call from Another Phone:
- Lift handset
- Dial "#0" followed by the extension number that originally parked the call.
Directed Call Pick Up
This feature is used to answer incoming call directed to extensions outside your specified pick up group that do not appear on your D-Term.
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key
- Dial "#7" and the number of the ringing extension that is to be answered
Call Pick Up Group
This feature is used to answer incoming calls directed to extensions within your specified pick up group which do not appear on your D-Term. To answer a call within your pick up group:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key
- Depress the PICK key, or, dial "*7"
Call Forward No Answer (CF NA)
This feature allows the user to forward incoming calls to any extension on campus or to voicemail. Calls will be forwarded if your extension is not answered within 15 seconds.
To activate call forward no answer:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key.
- Depress CF NA key.
- Dial desired extension number to which calls will be forwarded (86000 for voicemail). The CF-NA lamp will light and confirmation tone is heard.
- Hang up
To cancel Call Forward No Answer:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key.
- Depress CF NA key
- Hang up
Call Forward Busy (CF BZ)
This feature allows the user to forward incoming calls to any extension on campus or to voicemail when the user's extension is busy.
To activate Call Forward Busy:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key.
- Depress CF BZ key.
- Dial desired extension number to which calls will be forwarded (86000 for voicemail) The CF-BZ lamp will light and confirmation tone is heard
- Hang up
To cancel Call Forward Busy:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key.
- Depress CF BZ key
- Hang up
Call Forward All Calls (forward to another campus extension or campus voicemail)
This feature allows the user to forward all incoming calls to any extension on campus or to voicemail. Note: While your phone is set for Call Forward All Calls, you will not be able to answer calls placed to your number. You may still initiate calls.
To activate Call Forward All Calls:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key.
- Dial "*3" then dial desired extension number to which calls will be forwarded (86000 for voicemail). Confirmation tone is heard
- Hang up
To cancel Call Forward All Calls:
- Lift handset or depress Speaker key.
- Dial "#3"
- Hang up
Call Forward All Calls (immediately forward calls to an outside number)
NOTE: All D-Term phones can forward to outside numbers; no VOIP phones can. Call Forwarding to mobile phones works for AT&T and Verizon. It does NOT work for Sprint and T-Mobile. This is a carrier issue.
- Get Dialtone
- To forward calls off campus press * 3 9 1 plus a complete 10-digit telephone #
- You should hear a tone confirming the action. Hang up handset.
To cancel previous instruction for All Calls
- Get dialtone
- Press # 3 —

Up / Down Arrow
Used to adjust LCD contrast, speaker / receiver volume, and ringer volume.

Transfer |
Allows the station user to transfer established calls, (internal or external), to another station.

The Speaker key controls the built-in speaker which can be used for hands-free operation. The LED will light when the key is activated. |

This key is used to activate the last number redial feature.

This key is used to establish a three-way conference call. The LED will light when this feature is activated.
If a busy signal is encountered, you misdial, or there is no answer, depress transfer to be reconnected to the original party. |

This key is used as an immediate disconnect while re-establishing internal dial tone.

Feature Key Activation
Feature + "1" = Turns microphone on and off.

Feature + "7" = Turns the call indicator lamp on and off for incoming call notification.
One Touch Speed Dial
One touch speed dials are used for frequently dialed numbers.
To Program:
- While the phone is idle, depress the Feature key followed by the desired one touch key to be programmed. Dial the number to be programmed, (preceded with a "9" for outside numbers)
- Re-depress Feature key
To Use:
- Depress the desired one touch speed dial button. You will be automatically be connected to the programmed number via handsfree operation.
