Listen-Only Voicemail

 


Accessing Voicemail

Note: To reinitialize a voicemail box for a new user or to reset a voicemail password, submit a service request.

From the associated campus telephone:

  • Dial 86000
  • When prompted, dial the password

 

From an on-campus telephone (not associated with the number):

  • Dial 86000
  • When the system answers, depress * (to override the default function that places the caller in the same mailbox number as the calling extension)
  • When prompted, dial the last 5 digits of the phone number
  • When prompted, dial the password

 

From an off-campus telephone:

  • Dial 1-415-338-6000 from a touch-tone telephone
  • Depress # (to indicate you are a subscriber)
  • When prompted, dial the last 5 digits of the phone number
  • When prompted, dial the password

Note: You can key in commands almost anytime during the prerecorde prompts; you do not have to wait until the end of the prompt (some prompts which are not interruptable will continue to play).

 

Tips

  • The DTC and the Main Campus use the same voicemail system
  • Press # to skip through personal greetings
  • Press # at end of the password to tell the system password completed

Commonly used "fast-track" options:

  • Skip to next message by pressing #
  • Press ## to skip to the end of new messages and play archived messages (skipped messages remain new)
  • Delete a message without listening to the end: 3 - 3 - 7
  • Record or change a personal greeting: 4 - 3 - 1 - 2
  • Record an extended absence greeting: 4 - 3 - 2
  • Record or change the mailbox name played to callers: 4 - 3 - 3
  • Change the voicmail box password: 4 - 2 - 1 - 1
  • Locate received messages: 3 - 2
  • During playback, press 5 to hear the date, time, caller ID, and duration of the message
  • To repeat a prompt, press 0
  • Press * to cancel an operation, press repeatedly to exit system
  • Press 3 - 3 to fast-forward to end of a message
  • At the end of a message, press 7 to delete.

 

Initiliaze Listen-only Mail Box

Note: To setup a listen-only mailbox, submit a service request.

  • Dial 86000
  • If the telephone number currently has an associated mail box, press *. If not, press #
  • Enter the telephone number
  • Enter the password provided during setup
  • Follow the prompts to create a new password (at least 6 digits)
  • Follow the prompts to record the mailbox name
  • Press 4 for personal options
  • Press 2 for administrative options
  • Press 2 for contributor list (these are the only mail boxes that can place a message/announcement in the listen only mailbox)
  • Press * repeatedly to exit system

 

Record Messages into a listen-only mail box

Note: Only contributors can record messages

  • Log in to your personal voicemail box
  • Enter your password
  • Press 2 to send a message
  • Record message
  • Send to listen-only mailbox

 

Delete message in listen-only mail box

  • Dial 86000
  • Press *
  • Enter the telephone number
  • Enter the password
  • Press 1 to review message
  • After reviewing, press 7 to delete message

-Or, if you are a contributor-

  • Log in to your personal voicemail box
  • Enter your password
  • Press 3 (check reciept)
  • Press 1 (locate messages sent)
  • Enter the information center mailbox number as the message plays
  • After listening to the message , press 1 to retain or 2 to delete
